About Abbe
Abbe Turner is the creative force behind Lucky Penny Creamery. The creamery ceased cheesemaking operations in 2024. Abbe still raises goats, medicinal herbs for teas and Shiitake mushrooms on her Knox county farm.
Turner not only manufactures artisan goods, she creates social good in agricultural, environmental, and nonprofit organizations as a business development, strategic planning and fundraising consultant. A professional fundraiser by trade, she has raised money for public broadcasting, arts organizations, academia and national parks. Her current projects include Earth Angel Farms, founder of Recycle Pots and Pans, Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Organization, Rural Action and University of Akron College of Business.
Turner has received associate degrees in Viticulture and Enology from Kent State University and received her Masters Degree in Arts Policy and Administration from The John Glenn School at The Ohio State University. She was a Business Volunteers Unlimited Encore Fellow in 2015 for Evergreen Cooperatives, recipient of the Green business of the year award in 2014 from the Portage Parks Foundation, selected as a Farm Aid Farmer Hero in 2013, and awarded the Kent Chamber of Commerce IMMY Award for significant entrepreneurial investment in 2011.
Turner resides with her goats and dogs in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She is happiest wearing muck boots and drinking coffee.
